The volume of rail-sea combined transport for the Western Land-Sea New Corridor has already exceeded 1 million TEUs this year. As of October 6, the container transportation volume of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor rail-sea intermodal trains this year has exceeded 1 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units). The corridor's transportation capacity continues to expand, and the transport network is constantly improving, providing strong support for the development of foreign trade and economy in the southwestern region and ensuring smooth domestic and international double circulation.Since the beginning of this year, the demand for two-way freight flow in the Western Land-Sea New Corridor has remained strong. The Sichuan-Chongqing region and Beibu Gulf ports are working closely together, with frequent transportation exchanges. According to statistics, 120,000 TEUs of cargo were shipped this year from Chongqing to the Qinzhou Port area, an increase of 31.7% year-on-year. Outbound shipments of industrial products such as auto parts, construction machinery, and tires grew by 95%. Inbound trains from the Qinzhou Port area to Chongqing transported 53,000 TEUs of industrial raw materials, a year-on-year increase of 28.7%. Among them, the volume of mined and industrial raw materials such as quartz sand, spodumene, and zinc concentrate skyrocketed by nearly three times, continuously meeting the logistics needs of the hinterland's industrial supply chain.In response to the suspension of the Three Gorges lift ship system in September for maintenance and the capacity constraints of the river-sea transport channel, the railway departments accurately adapted to market changes, proactively took over diverted cargo, and worked tirelessly to ensure the uninterrupted logistics of foreign trade in the southwest region. Data shows that in September, the two-way train volume from Chongqing Xiaonanya to Qinzhou Port East and back saw a significant increase, rising year-on-year by 119.5% and 106.9%, respectively, effectively compensating for the transportation capacity gap caused by the channel maintenance.Currently, the infrastructure construction of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor is accelerating and becoming more efficient. The second line projects of the Qinzhou-Fangchenggang Railway and Qinzhou Port Railway are nearing completion and will be put into operation gradually from the end of this year to the first half of next year, greatly enhancing the back-end railway transportation capacity of Beibu Gulf ports. At the same time, after the implementation of the national railway schedule adjustments in the fourth quarter, the number of scheduled rail routes for the Western Land-Sea New Corridor has increased to 54, with 2 new dedicated train routes added. This will further expand the logistics network connecting Guangxi with Sichuan-Chongqing, the Yangtze River Delta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and China-Vietnam border ports, creating a more improved channel layout for internal and external connectivity.
